Gwithian Sands plays host to a wide variety of species of Animal and Plantlife, There are two types of habitats that can be found on the old quarry site. On is in the sandy areas, this inclused the beach and the dunes among the maram grass, which is generally a dryer area for things like rabbits, adders, Snails and insects. Whereas in the center of the site there are fenced off area of freshwater wetland in which you can find things such as Frogs, Toads, Leeches, Water Snails, Ducks and Swallows which feed of the smaller insects that fly around the reeds.
